JAKE DOCKSTATOR
Thank you all for your support
Who is Jake Dockstator?
Jake was raised in a household that helped develop his identity both as a member of the Jewish community and as a member of the Indigenous community and attributes his success to having a strong sense of self. As a member of the Oneida Nation of the Thames, Jake has spent his career as a passionate champion of Indigenous economic development. With a Juris Doctor from the Osgoode Hall Law School, and an MBA from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster, Jake has spent the last 7 years on the ground working with First Nations across Central Canada and Northern Ontario creating educational programs, launching successful businesses, and successfully attracted funding for the creation of a new addiction treatment centre in Northern Ontario.
Outside of business, Jake Produced the award-winning documentary film, “I’m Not an Indian” on Crave. This eye-opening film generated national discussion and was even noted in a speech in the Canadian Senate on National Indigenous Peoples Day. Jake was recently selected as one of The Trilateral Commission’s DavidRockefeller Fellows, an opportunity for individuals who are 35 years or younger and display interest in national and global issues.
Jake is seeking public office to represent his community in Winnipeg South Centre and to bring his experience working with First Nations to Ottawa and contribute to the national discussion on Indigenous policy.
